Description:

This is a set of widget styles for Qt4/KDE4, KDE3 and Gtk2 based apps.

0.49 is the first version to have a Qt4/KDE4 port. This version may be compiled with just Qt4 - in which case the KDE4 control panel config dialog will not be built. See the INSTALL file for more details.

The fonts and colours for the GTK themes will be read in from your Qt settings - so any KDE font/colour changes will also affect your GTK apps.

**NOTE:** The Gtk3 release has been removed, as the Gtk theme API has changed!

NOTE: kde-look.org had a server crash, and the original QtCurve entry was deleted.

Changelog:

KDE4
====

1.8.14
------
1. Fix loading of kwin decoration/config under KDE4.9

KDE3
====

1.8.5
-----
1. Allow scrollbar sliders to be as thin as 5 pixels. At this setting, sliders will be squared.

Gtk2
====

1.8.16
------
1. fix memleak with newer versions of cairo.

 Version number

 by theDecider on: Oct 6 2010

I've compiled and installed the latest version (1.6.4) without any error, but the version number still shows 1.6.1 in the QtCurve setting. So I'm wondering if my install is successful. Did I do somthing wrong? I installed QtCurve ONLY from sourse.

This might be a silly question but... did you actually make (and save) any changes with the config dialog?

I can make changes and save without any problem and there is no problem using QtCurve at all. I just don't know why I have QtCurve 1.6.1 instead of 1.6.4. Do I need to manually remove all files related to 1.6.1 first before installing 1.6.4?

Which version number are you referring to? The on in ~/.config/qtcurve/stylerc? Or the one in the config UI?

If its the one in the config UI, then that is the version of the config that you are running. Which would imply that you have installed it in the wrong place. Do you have 1.6.1 installed in /usr, and 1.6.4 in /usr/local?

 Alter tab background bug

 by piwsko on: Oct 11 2010

Score 50%

When setting option "Alter background by:" in "Tab" settings to value other than 0%, all widgets inherited from (presumably) QAbstractScrollArea expose a strange bug:
Their content often disappears and reappears on selection/hover.
These screenshots show what I mean.
the bug:
http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/264/bada.png
the bugless version:
http://img139.imageshack.us/img139/6512/goodt.png
Using version 1.6.2, but the 1.6.4 also is affected.
Only Qt applications expose this behaviour.
Kubuntu 10.10, Qt 4.7.0, KDE 4.5.2

This happens to me too, but only on intel GMA GPU.
Nvidia with the same settings works well.
What's yours?

I use Intel drivers as well. Version 2.12 (found in Ubuntu 10.10) to be precise. So it is more likely to be the driver's fault.

Odd. I have KDE4.5/Qt4.7/Intel at work, KDE4.4/Qt4.6/NVidia at home - and both work fine for me, I see no such corruption.

I made a mistake, form me that problem happens on item lists like the one showing the effects in systemsettings or in the phonon configuration.

I have to disable any
"mouse over" effects
OR
"alter background by"
both settings together give me the disappearing bug.

You can check my settings right here:
http://kde-look.org/content/show.php/CurveDomina+Qtcurve?content=126954

I'm able to reproduce the bug by setting that style, showing the kde window effects, select the second tab (all effects) and then passing the mouse cursor over the list and then outside, as soon as the mouse is off the list, some items aren't visible anymore.

My intel driver is older - 2.9.1.

Tried your settings - and again, all is fine for me.

...out of curiosity, can you try with Cleanlooks - and see if this has similar issues.

Do you mean the kstyle cleanlook or are you referring to a qtcurve setting? (i've no cleanlook setting in qtcurve btw)

I'll try as soon as possible in the afternoon.

No, the in-built Qt cleanlooks style.

kcmshell4 kwincompositing kwindecoration kwinoptions --style cleanlooks

Should do the trick.

Also, could you edit qtcurve.cpp, and at about line 5138 can you change from:

if(0!=opts.tabBgnd)
painter->fillPath(buildPath(r, WIDGET_TAB_FRAME, ROUNDED_ALL, getRadius(&opts, r.width(), r.height(), WIDGET_TAB_FRAME, RADIUS_EXTERNAL)),
shade(use[ORIGINAL_SHADE], TO_FACTOR(opts.tabBgnd)));

To:
if(0!=opts.tabBgnd)
{
QColor bgnd(shade(use[ORIGINAL_SHADE], TO_FACTOR(opts.tabBgnd)));

painter->fillRect(r.adjusted(0, 1, 0, -1), bgnd);
painter->fillRect(r.adjusted(1, 0, -1, 0), bgnd);
}

Is it possible to make a light theme with black text but has dark menus with white text?

Yes. Either have menubars shaded as per your kwin titlebars (and it'll use the text colour of those), use 'selected background' for menubar (and it'll use the highlight colour), or set your own custom normal/selected text colours. The set popup menus to use the menubar colour settings.

I figured it out now.

For some reason I thought you were talking about the KDE color settings, not the QtCurve settings.

 Java SwingSet like styles

 by maarizwan on: Oct 15 2010

Hi Craig,

SwingSet of java, has 'single line' style.

toolbar items are 'button like', can we have this 'default button look for toolbar itmes' with qtcurve?

http://javadesktop.org/images/chet/LCDText/swingsetnoaa.png

http://javadesktop.org/images/chet/LCDText/swingsetlcd.png

same photos (from imageshack)
http://img89.imageshack.us/img89/1846/swingsetnoaa.png
http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/3649/swingsetlcd.png

The observable thing is 'all items are 'single/double line' without shadows, groovy/sunken appearance. no blurr anywhere.

more like webpages, like this site itself which has 'single line' without shadows... buttons, lists, line-edit etc... except slider, and combobox has shadows (again i don't want shadows there also for a slick/sharp look)

Can it be done with qtcurve? Especially, the Java SwingSet style looks sweet to me. thanks.

 Grouped/Joined toolbuttons

 by maarizwan on: Oct 15 2010

Score 50%

opera toolbar has 'mixed buttons' where 2 or more buttons can be 'grouped' like mac osx.

Can we have 'grouped buttons' for toolbar

it would really make mac osx interface possible for Linux.

now firefox/konqueror/rekonq/arora/midorthe toolbar looks like this::

[<-] [->] [1] [2] [3] [Address bar] [Search]

A grouped up toolbar would look like:

[<-|->] [1|2|3] [Address bar|search]

opera toolbar
http://img808.imageshack.us/img808/2791/operatoolbar.png

mac osx 10 finder:
http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/2433/macosxfinderwithfolders.jpg

thanks.
we could use 'separators' in toolbar settings/configuration to 'separate' the joined toolbuttons.
