Description:

This is a set of widget styles for Qt4/KDE4, KDE3 and Gtk2 based apps.

0.49 is the first version to have a Qt4/KDE4 port. This version may be compiled with just Qt4 - in which case the KDE4 control panel config dialog will not be built. See the INSTALL file for more details.

The fonts and colours for the GTK themes will be read in from your Qt settings - so any KDE font/colour changes will also affect your GTK apps.

**NOTE:** The Gtk3 release has been removed, as the Gtk theme API has changed!

NOTE: kde-look.org had a server crash, and the original QtCurve entry was deleted.

Changelog:

KDE4
====

1.8.14
------
1. Fix loading of kwin decoration/config under KDE4.9

KDE3
====

1.8.5
-----
1. Allow scrollbar sliders to be as thin as 5 pixels. At this setting, sliders will be squared.

Gtk2
====

1.8.16
------
1. fix memleak with newer versions of cairo.

 Cairo 1.10

 by FishBait on: Sep 10 2010

Just installed Cairo 1.10.

It seems to be messing with the gradient drawing somehow for GTK.

For instance I have a soft gradient on standard buttons, but they show a white color until I mouse over them.

Progress bar shows white as well.

Divider lines in menus look odd.

It looks as if anything that is drawn using alpha blending of some sort is screwed up. Not on everything though, just certain type of elements.

Is this just with QtCurve? What about other Cairo based Gtk2 engines? e.g. clearlooks, murrine, etc?

Is it only the gradients? Do lines draw ok?

I'll try to install cairo 1.10 on my own machine later.

OK, I've installed cairo 1.10 and can confirm the issue. However, I've also noticed that Clearlooks and Murrine *are* affected - although to a *much* lesser degree than QtCurve. (For example, look at Clearlook's buttons when pressed).

Not sure if the issue is with cairo, or with the way it is being used.

Did some more digging. Looks like this may be an NVIDIA issue. (Are you using NVIDIA?) See this thread: http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=154919

I applied the cairo patch detailed in that thread, and it fixed my cairo 1.10 problems.

You beat me to it. I was coming back to post that there was a patch called "buggy_gradients.patch" that fixed things for me. It's already in portage. (I'm on gentoo)

I also found a way to work-around this in the style. For gradients, I just repeat the fist and last position. So, 1.6.0 will have a cmake option to compile this work-around in for Cairo 1.10

Any way to get the toolbar to blend into the window-titlebar like the menubar? I use xbar to get rid of menubar.

Not currently, at least not in the way it is doe for menubars. The reason being that I'm not sure how to do this for Gtk2 toolbars.

You could fake it by using a gradient.

 1.6.0 is awesome, but 1 bug

 by adee on: Sep 13 2010

Great work, thanks. But in the gtk2 version there is a bug with the tooltips, when I move the mouse over an item, often the tooltip shows for 1 ms then disappears (about 50% of the tries).
Without much investigation, I found the problem only exists with enabled tooltip roundness.

Yeah, to make the Gtk2 tooltips rounded I have to add a mask to the widget. But the only way I could get this to work reliably was to hide the widget, add the mask, and the re-show it.

Which app is giving the problem?

Basically every GTK2 app. Seems pretty much random when it occurs. I use KDE4, so I only use limited number of GTK2 stuff, but chromium 6.0.472.53 , Filezilla, Meld, GIMP, Pulseaudio volume control app produces the same. 1 exception: firefox 3.6.9 is uneffected due to qtcurve is not rounding any tooltips there

Odd. Works fine for me. Which version of Gtk2?

Can you try editing qtcurve.c, and make the following changes:

gtk_widget_unmap TO gtk_widget_hide
gtk_widget_map TO gtk_widget_show

Sorry... This appears to be related to the issue already reported by adee. If I disable rounded corners on tooltips, it seems to work fine.

Which version of Gtk2 do you have? If you replace:

if(gtk_widget_get_visible(widget))

with:

if(GTK_WIDGET_VISIBLE(widget))

does it work?

My Gtk2 version is: 2.16.6

Chrome version is: 6.0.472.55

The switch to "if(GTK_WIDGET_VISIBLE(widget))" fixed the problem.
