Description:

SOME REQUEST - a lot of you guy's were asking for binaries for their distros,
so please if you could build one and mail it to me i would post them ASAP, 10X:)

Hi there,

this is the deKorator kwin deco,
deKorator is based on the HOWTO: KWin Window Manager Decorations posted in here: http://kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=6332
and done by Brandybuck, 10x david:)
the man that responsible for all the art design is jon clarke AKA ArbitraryReason, and if you don't know him by now all you should do is just look at the highest rated scores of this site:)
the nice thing about deKorator it's that it loads is images from
some user defined directory(something quiet similar to what iceWM is doing ),
thats means that everything is themeable with no time and no programming knowledge is needed.
one thing to note is that if you would like to see the changes instantly when designing the tiles, you need to run "kwin --replace&".

few notes:
when installing the new version, log out and login back, or run "kwin --replace&" to load the new version.
if for some reason some options dont seem to work, remove your old kwindeKoratorrc file and let deKorator produce a new one.

i will update my site with some more documentation, samples, template-themes, and other usefull stuff for the theme makers,
so don't forget to check it out, it will be located in the "goodies" directory.

how to install new theme - there r 3 ways to install new theme I'll name them out,

1 - downlad theme tarball and extract it to $HOME/.kde/share/apps/deKorator/themes

2 - download theme tarball, go to deKorator "themes" tab push the "install new theme" push button, you'll be presented with a dialog box, enter your theme URL or just use the little push button to locate your theme on your file system.

3 - go to kde-look and search for some 0.2 deKorator theme, in the theme post right click on the download link and "copy link address", then just go to deKorator "themes" tab push the "install new theme" button and paste the link onto the address bar, deKorator will download and install it for you.

most importent after any installation type, if you'd like to use the theme you need to press on the "set theme path's" push button.

And PLEASE if you got any comment good or bad, suggestion, feature request, other tiling format idea, please feel free to shout it...

10x to eyal the project is hosted now at www.cheetux.org.il, you could also find there some theme's i've ported from 0.1 to 0.2.

Changelog:

*better masking, for how to use it properly look at the Bushido-Yellow-theme inside the tarball.
*new hue colorizing method, proposed by Azzali Matteo AKA mattepiu.
*if supplied transparent images deKorator will fill it with the style background color, this will allow some "powder" style windec, this idea was proposed by the autor of powder,Remi VillatelAKA Maxilys.
*support for title bar wheel mouse action as introduced in kde 3.5.1, patch supplied by Morten Johansson.
*global themes support, this feature allows rpms and debs builders to build themes packages as proposed by loki, deKorator will look for the global themes at $KDEDIR/share/apps/deKorator/themes.
*much more configureabilty when regarding to active and inactive decos and buttons.
*custom colors for buttons.
*new theme The K-style:Infinity-theme, done by Zoran Karavla, included in the tarball and shown in the screenshots.
* few other options in the config dialog.

for full changelog see file CHANGELOG within the tarball.

 installing deKorator

by arttureno on: Dec 23 2005

having some problems here :)

I have 64bit AMD64 system with Suse Linux eval 10.0.

./configure goes fine, or so it seems, no errors just "Good - your configure finished. Start make now"

but after I type "make", I get nothing than just errors like:
"make[3]: Entering directory `/home/ari/deKorator-0.1/client/config'
make[3]: Nothing to be done for `all'.
"

and
"deKoratorclient.cc:129: error: 'resetDecorations' was not declared in this scope
deKoratorclient.cc: In member function 'void DeKorator::DeKoratorFactory::colorizeDecoPixmaps()':
"

So what can I do?

The two debs provided on the link, one of them got no dependencies at all, the other one got dependencies impossible to fulfill.

The one withouth dependencies could be for any version, and right now there is incompability between debian sarge, debian etch and debian sid, so the dependencies are very importiant.

The other .deb is depending on kdelibs4 >= 4:3.4.2, which no longer exist.

I might soon be providing working pacckages for debian unstable, if there is a public demand ;)

Hi,
I'm using Kubuntu Breezy 5.10 with kde 3.5 and I had the same issue with this package deps.
By looking over the net I found this site in french which describes how to change those lacking deps.
Following this how-to I rebuild the package for my ubuntu and it works just fine : http://eric.van-der-vlist.com/blog/1449?t=item

packaged for debian sid and uploaded to mirror.pusling.com

add
deb http://mirror.pusling.com/debian/unstable/ ./

to your sources.list and then
'apt-get install kwin-style-dekorator'

and there you go.

Well I finally found the QT lib 3... but the KDELIBS4 doesn't like my system... I lose kdelibs4c2a... which causes me to also lose most of my kde 3.5 software... the only kdelibs4 version I see is 3.3. something or other.

I use Debian.

 New version issues

by LinuxRocks on: Dec 31 2005

Score 50%

I was using the .1 version for a while and had no issues at all.

After installing this version, and converting over my themes, when I install a theme and/or set the paths for the theme, my title bar disappears when I select apply.

The previous version didn't do this. I have also tried with several themes.

Any reason why this is doing that?

I am using KDE 3.5.

Thanks!!!

Joe
