Description:

Tiblit is a KDE style focused on customization and experiments with modern human-computer interaction. My aim with the project is to create a highly customizable QT style that looks completely different than what is currently available.

A bit of a warning about 2.0 beta. Don't bother complaining. It's _extremely_ rough around the edges and I'm building a new tiblit around a different engine. 3.0? Eh...

Build contributions:
The BSD port is provided by dolmant1.
The ebuild is provided by Lenz.

Patch contributions:
Chris Parker - Styleconf

Changelog:

Tiblit Development Versions now available via anonymous pserver cvs access on sourceforge.

 Gentoo ebuild

Please note: The URL of the gentoo ebuild has changed. You find it now here:

Thanks for attention,

Only a trouble. I had kdebase-meta installed and this ebuild doesn't support this. It tries to emerge kdebase-3.4 (not the splitted ebuild).

So I edited this ebuild to reflect my needs.

Now it works!!!

Lenz is there anything specific I should know about the ebuild? Brian, feel free to send me a log of the installation if you'd like me to peak at it. I'll take a stab at ebuild stuff.

Which version of KDE do you use? I tested it with both, KDE 3.3 and 3.4. Works perfectly here.

 Can\'t install ebuild

 by d0nk3y on: Apr 7 2005

Score 50%

I don't know what I'm doing wrong... I'm trying to install the tiblit ebuild for KDE 3.4. I tried using both ebuilds on here, the main one provided in the description and the one Lenz linked to in his comment, with the same results for each. The version of portage I'm using is 2.0.51.19. Here's what I've tried so far...

First I tried just pointing emerge to the ebuild file that I had unpacked into /root/tiblit. That gave me an initial warning that said, "*** emerging by path is broken and may not always work!!!" I guess the warning was accurate because it then printed the following errors:

Calculating dependencies
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/bin/emerge", line 2998, in ?
retval,favorites=mydepgraph.select_files(myfiles)
File "/usr/bin/emerge", line 1019, in select_files
if os.path.realpath(portage.db["/"]["porttree"].dbapi.findname(mykey)) != x:
File "/usr/lib/python2.3/posixpath.py", line 406, in realpath
filename = abspath(filename)
File "/usr/lib/python2.3/posixpath.py", line 395, in abspath
if not isabs(path):
File "/usr/lib/python2.3/posixpath.py", line 49, in isabs
return s.startswith('/')
AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'startswith'

So after that, I made sure I had PORTDIR_OVERLAY set to /usr/local/portage in make.conf and that it was not commented out. I moved tiblit into /usr/local/portage/kde-base/tiblit and tried running 'emerge -av tiblit'. This time it said:

Calculating dependencies -
emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy "~kde-base/kdelibs-1.2".

Running 'equery list kdelibs' showed that I have kdelibs-3.4.0 installed. I looked in my /usr/portage/kde-base/kdelibs dir and also checked out kdelibs on Gentoo's online package database and saw that kdelibs-1.2 doesn't seem to exist. The oldest one is 3.2.3-r5.

What gives? Does anyone know why emerge is looking for kdelibs-1.2? Did I miss something? Thanks for any help!

Gentoo's ebuild ports system is all well and good, but any decent Linux distribution will allow you to CMMI. If you've taken the step to go with Gentoo, do yourself the favor and learn the configure, make, and make install process as well. Try this out from the tiblit source tree:
./configure --prefix=`kde-config --prefix` --disable-debug
That should bark back if you're missing a dependency. If it finishes, type make then make install as root. If you're lucky enough to have a 64 bit machine, append --enable-libsuffix=64 to command.

What's CMMI? I don't know that acronym... Are you talking about just building everything from the .tar.gz? I certainly know how to do that.. I just wanted to keep everything within Portage if possible. Is it just not worth dinking around with the ebuild? Thanks!

 Missing Options

Great style!

However I miss some parts, such as changing more than just colors on sliders and scrollbars.

As it is now, I don't like the scrollbar "arrows" (those in the middle of the slider), nor do I like the transparancy of the slider button.

perhaps you could add some more options? :D

(btw, a good idea would be to have less options / tab, since my window don't fit in 1024x768, can't reach the "ok" button >_

Thanks for the comments and suggestions. The configuration is being rewritten for 2.0. I personally like the transparent slider, I'm gonna keep that. As for the scrollbars, you've got the images, you're welcome to hack it to your liking for the arrows that appear on the scrollbars, look at widget-engine/pics
scrollbar-*slider*
files and remove as desired. Feel free to send me suggestion on email for new color options. I already have toolbuttons, radio buttons, and check boxes in the works.

I think you're using bash? If so,
  • export CVSROOT=":pserver:anonymous@cvs.sf.net:/cvsroot/tiblit"

  • cvs login

  • [no password, enter]

  • cvs co tiblit

  • Give that a shot. And I think "grrr" was deprecated. ;)

    i also don't really like the scrollbars - esp because i very often click the space under or above the scrollbar, as the scrollbar itself looks like the groove, and the groove seems to be the scrollbar. you should at least inverse the gradients...
