Description:

Oxygen-Gtk is a port of the default KDE widget theme (Oxygen), to gtk.

Its primary goal is to ensure visual consistency between gtk and qt-based applications running under kde. A secondary objective is to also have a stand-alone nice looking gtk theme that would behave well on other Desktop Environments.

Unlike other attempts made to port the kde oxygen theme to gtk, this attempt does not depend on Qt (via some Qt to Gtk conversion engine), nor does render the widget appearance via hard coded pixmaps, which otherwise breaks everytime some setting is changed in kde.

Hosting:
- tarballs are hosted on kde ftp servers
- git repository is hosted at https://projects.kde.org

Download
- First link point to a tarball of the official 1.0 release
- Second link point to a tarball of the official 1.1 release
- Third link point to the git repository. For the GTK 2.x version, one can get the latest sources from master branch using
Quote:
git clone git://anongit.kde.org/oxygen-gtk

and from the GTK 3.x version, using
Quote:
git clone -b gtk3 git://anongit.kde.org/oxygen-gtk

Installation:
- See the INSTALL file in the top-level directory.
- You will likely need gtk+2.0 dev packages, as well as Cairo

Authors:
- Ruslan Kabatsayev
- Cédric Bellegarde
- me

Release:
We plan to follow the same release schedule as KDE:
- one minor bug-fixing release every month;
- one major feature release every six month.

Bugs:

See the README file in the top-level directory, for a list of possible issues with the style.

Bugs and feature requests can be sent to KDE bug tracking system (https://bugs.kde.org/). You would need to select Product=Oxygen, and Component=gtk-engine

Changelog:

oxygen-gtk2 - version 1.3.3
oxygen-gtk3 - version 1.1.3

 Uninstall?

by otrov on: Jul 13 2011

Score 50%

I have some issues, like GUI objects starts flickering then degrading until system restarts by itself. I'm on Debian.

So I want to temporarily remove this theme to see if this issue will come again, as this is third time it happened in a middle of working environment (couple of programs opened with documents data lost)

Thanks

I will report if I experience above issue again, in case it's not related to this theme

This is due to a change with Leon shadow system.
In fact you should not get shadows with any gtk theme.
Now if you upgrade to oxygen-gtk 1.1, shadows should back.

Thanks, it worked well, the shadows come back.
But libreoffice didnt, so I installed: 'libreoffice-gnome' and It worked.

yes. I guess you're original libreoffice uses the "Qt" interface, which is even more broken than the gtk one. (and uses Oxyge-Qt and not oxygen-gtk).

libreoffice-gnome on the other hand uses the gtk interface, and therefore oxygen-gtk which should be less broken and (indeed) have the shadow back. It is the recommanded usage of libre-office (until libreoffice get rewritten to use Qt / or gtk, as a native toolkit, in place of the two ugly and incomplete wrappers it is using now)

Anyway, thanks for the feedback, and I'm glad I could help.

I've noticed this change too. Why cant kwin use its old shadows for cases like these? Now every non-oxygen style does not have shadows for menus :-(

Well. Old kwin shadows is gone for good (it was buggy, non-optimized and unmaintained).

We could/should add fallback shadows to kwin in case it is not provided by the widget style, but due to lack of manpower it is unfortunately low priority. I guess a bug report or wish send to KWin @ bugs.kde.org can't hurt, though :)

Detaching Audacity toolbars breaks mouse input

 by MrBumpy4096 on: Aug 4 2011

Score 50%

Using Oxygen-GTK 1.1.1, detaching toolbars in Audacity causes mouse input (click and hover) to break. This doesn't happen with other themes (QtCurve and Raleigh tested). I have filed a bug report here: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=279406

 error with shadows?

Hi!

Something goes wrong with firefox/thunderbird and oxygen-gtk (And KDE 4.7.0). The shadows from the menues and so on are a little bit shredded:

Same problem here.

OpenSuse 11.4
nVidia GeForce GT 320M (nVidia driver 275.21)
KDE 4.7 final
Firefox 5.x
Thunderbird 3.1.x
oxygen-gtk 1.1.1

Problem occurs only with Firefox and Thunderbird; all other GTK2 applications work perfectly.

Corruption around firefox menus:

Corruption around firefox tooltips:

http://img847.imageshack.us/img847/5536/oxygengtk2.jpg

Downgrade to oxygen-gtk 1.0.x fixes the problem, but the menu shadows are not drawn.
Problem does not occur with other GTK2 themes.

This bug has already been reported:

Ralph's perfectly correct.
Problem is already reported in kde bugs. Its likely a combination of some Graphics driver + Firefox that causes the issues. It arrises only with new KWin's shadow system in combination with recent oxygen-gtk, that is the only Gtk style to support this new shadow system.

(which is why older gtk style, or other styles don't show shadows for any gtk apps).

Code is correct, as far as I know (notably since it is working just fine with other gtk apps, and also working fine with firefox on some systemes - notably: mine ).

I have no real clue how to fix, and would suggest people to report it upstream to graphics drivers/X

 Forces Gnome icons?

When using oxygen-gtk, my icons are changed to Gnome. Why can't I keep my usual icons (Elementary)?

Im using v1.1.2 on Arch Linux btw.

What's your desktop environment ?
Oxygen-gtk tries to follow your KDE settings and fallback to oxygen, then gnome, if none of the two above is found.

 what about non-KDE?

Well Im using this with awesomewm. It would be nice if this theme could be more DE/WM agnostic.

Problèmes is that various DEs dont have a uniform system settings, which makes what you suggest quite complicated (would require to read multiple files, in multiple format, with no idea about which one should have precedence over the other)

Oxygen gtk is designed do support KDE settings.

Now, You can change the icon style it picks by manually editing the kdeglobals file installed in its default config directory. (look for icon theme or something similar)

I looked in kdeglobals but the only lines with icon in them are:

ToolButtonStyle=TextBesideIcon
ToolButtonStyleOtherToolbars=TextBesideIcon

Anyways I think I'll just look for a different Oxygen theme. Thanks anyways.

You're correct. My mistake.
To configure the icon theme you'd need to add:

[Icons]
Theme=your theme

To the file.
I'll add it ASAP, and will document.
