Handles not setable

Application: FluXX Compensator (Y) - Apr 3 2013
answered
Question:Hi, thanks for the nice app. Both handles for the users don't keep their set positions. It only works for the admin accounts. Is there an option I missed?

EDIT1:
As I just recognized: The handle for the left sidebar disapears with the sidebar. Also only on the user accounts. Topbar handle doesn't disapear.

EDIT2:
And I should add some info for you ;). I use an Ubuntu server 12.04 LTS U2D with OC5.0 and your (Y) 0.6.

EDIT3:
Sry I'm new here at OC. Is this an appropriate place to add this? Is there like a bug forum for the apps? I'll have a look.

EDIT4:
Nope. I think this is the best way to get the info to you. Or did I miss something?

EDIT5: Left handle visible with OC 5.0.3, but both still not setable.

Thx 4 F1.
s.h.

Answer:Hi Stormsh,
frist of all: thanks for the ffedback and sorry for the delay - been traveling...

I just released version 0.1.2 of 'FluXX Compensator (Y)' which fixes the main issue you mentioned: that non priviledged users could not set the handles position. I never realized that issue myself, so thanks again for pointing it out.

I assume the additional issues with non visible handles are problems with positioning too in the end. Could I ask you to try again with the new version? The app should automatically reposition the handles into the visible area if that is not already the case - for example if you use the app on a smaller screen because you use different clients to access your ownCloud.
Non of the handle should disappear when hiding a panel. Instead the handles are meant to 'flip' in and out of the panel area itself which is required to keep them visible. Since the panels status (hidden or visible) is also a users preference I assume again that the vanishing handle you observed is a side effect of a user not being able to store the required setting. Should be fixed as well.

I tested again with a non-priviledged and an administrative account: for both users I was able to use the handles as expected: moving the handles, toggling the panels and restoring the states upon reload and relogin.

About giving feedback and reporting issues:
The preferred way to report an issue is by using the owncloud issue trackers which are part of the ownCloud github repositories. That is not really conveninent for endusers, but the 'officially expected' channel as stated by the ownCloud core team. This makes sense, since messages in this system only reach a single person and tend to be forgotten. Entries in the issue tracker simply have more weight.
Also please note that I moved all of "my" apps from my personal repository to the ownCloud github repositories. The motivation is mostly to attract more people to contribute to the apps. I simply cannot maintain those apps in a one-man-show, that takes too much time. So sending me a message reduces chances that someone else can fix the issue you report :-)

Right, hope the new version works for you!

PS: oh, and...
if you like an app: vote for it here. Votings are for the developers what applause is to actors on a stage ;-)
Also keep in mind that you are part of the community - want to contribute?
